Time is flying too fast! The third week is already over and we are leaving for our research work this weekend. Some are leaving tomorrow while other on Sunday. We are going to be out in our field for about three weeks. I am going to Esteli, which is the third largest city in Nicaragua. Me and three other students are going to live with a host family and do our fieldwork on youth, culture and identity. The youth of Nicaragua are very special. Many of them have a strong story and had hard experience while growing up. It makes me wonder how strong the youth actually is. It is going to be interesting to get to know them more in Esteli.
Like I said in my previous post, being student has its benefits. We get the chance to experience the city from a different perspective. This week on Wednesday some of the development students went to Lionel’s Eco friendly farm.
Me with cotton in my hands:) Cotton was once Nicaragua’s second largest export earner after coffee. Specially the demand for cotton during the Korean War caused a rapid increase in cotton production.

Trips and adventures here in Leon are over for now. Esteli is waiting for me, and it will be exiting to see how everything goes. Fieldreportresearchthingy, here i come! 🙂
