We have now been studying and living in Hoi an for a week and a half, and I think I can speak for most of us when saying that things are pretty good. The first week in Hoi an, included trips in and around the city, the first lectures and seminars, and social events and activities in order to get to know everyone. One of the trips was on a boat, where we could relax with amazing weather while exploring the river of Hoi an.
We also went on a bike trip through the astonishing rice fields, where we visited a village and three local farmers. One fish farm, one rice farm, and one organic farm. It was really interesting to see how they worked and lived, and their gardens were filled with beautiful flowers and crops of fruit and vegetables. The organic farmers had a dog that had just given birth to eight adorable puppies. This was a highlight for many of us.
On Saturday, we were invited to a welcome party at the Balance Café by the staff. We were served amazing food, and it was a great opportunity to get to know everyone a little better. The night led to both limbo and karaoke and a lot of new friends!
We all have gotten our very own bikes, that we use every day to and from the lectures and wherever else we go. The traffic can be intense, but you get used to it very fast. Hoi an isn’t a very big city and therefore its easy to navigate and find your way to explore all the fun sites and activities in Hoi an.
