While our courses take place in the Central Buenos Aires satelite campus, our Universidad Nacional de San Martin (UNSAM) has its main campus in San Martin, which is a 40 minutes train ride. It is a state university, and it has about 19 000 students and 600 teachers. UNSAM focuses on the fields of science and technology, medicine, humanities and art.
Last Friday the university invited all of us student from Kulturstudier to experience a day at the main campus. We were welcomed by the vice principal of the university when we arrived. He told us about the history of the university and showed us around the campus. The university was established in 1992, but has been renovated since. It is a beautiful, beautiful campus with modern buildings and great outdoors areas. The campus is kept clean and all the people we met were very nice and welcomed us with open arms. We had our Spanish class at the campus in a normal classroom, as well as our history class in a modern well-equipped auditorium. Afterwards they arranged a lovely lunch with empanadas and dessert.
The vice principal told us that we were welcome back any time to enjoy the university’s facilities and to take part of the different activities. He also informed us about the fact that the university offers many degrees in English, as well as they cooperate with many international universities.
