1. The Sunday market in San Telmo is one of my absolute favourite things to do! This marked offers beautiful, beautiful handmade products. The prices are a bit more expensive than normal markets; but once you see the craftsmanship you will understand why. You will also find local artists singing there, tango dancers in the restaurants and delicious food!

2. China town! This is the place to be for the curious food lovers! I mainly go here for the absolutely amazing super markets! Once you step inside; you are caught! The supermarkets here offer everything you can imagine; not a lot of Asian food actually, but just about everything else you can imagine. This is a great place to find new interesting groceries, as well as to buy everything else you can’t seem to find around town.

3. There are a lot of great restaurants around town; but you have to know about them! Some of my favourites are Heisenburger, Ralphs and Casa Cavia for dinner, and Le Pan Qoutiden for lunch.1421404_1725295967716750_6611293_n

4. Bars! Try Isabel and Franks, and if you like jazz music you must visit Thelonious!

5. Museo Evita! This is the museum of the political figure Evita Peron. We went here with my Spanish class, and I was absolutely impressed! The museum tells the story of her life from birth to her life as a politician and first lady. It is a very interesting and powerful story, and very important to understand the country of Argentina. Museo Evita is a very modern museum equipped with film clips from her life, as well as one can see her stunning dresses she wore as a first lady!

6. Teatro Colon for astonishing operas, ballet shows and more.

7. Techno! If you love techno music; this is the place to be! Buenos Aires is the capital of techno in South America, and all the great clubs and parties play techno all night long. Try out the Unlock parties or clubs such as Jet or Pacha.

8. Parks! Yes, there are huge and amazing parks…but what I love the most is all the small parks that randomly appear at any corner. Bring lovely food and a book, and enjoy your afternoon…

9. Shopping! Most of us Scandinavian student thought it was a great idea to shop in Buenos Aires as we imagined it to be a big city with a lot to offer and good prices. However, I must disappoint you, and say that this is not the place for shopping! Bring all you need for the semester! Buenos Aires has had great limitations as for importations the last years. This is a political decision made in order to strengthen national distribution. Most of the clothes are now made in Argentina, and the result is simply a very, very low quality of fabrics and overpriced prices. You can find some imported brands, but far from as many as one would expect. The imported brands are a lot, a lot, more expensive than in Europe and USA.

What I would recommend is simply the shopping malls. Patio Bullrich, Galerias Pacifico and Alto Palermo! These offer a lot of different shops with good quality (mostly). Be aware that you will have to pay a lot more here for the quality than what you would do in Europe! In these shopping malls you can find Zara; which is great! But remember that the season here is the opposite of home, and they therefore have to make another line to be able to offer the appropriate clothes for the climate. The problem is that this line is made in Argentina, and therefore has a lot lower quality than the usual products from Zara. You can find all the normal makeup brands such as Chanel, Dior and Clinique, but notice that all these imported makeup brands are a lot (and I mean a lot) more expensive than home. You can also find the beauty store L’Occitane!

10. Kayaking! Kulturstudier took us kayaking just outside San Isidro, and it was so much fun! I had never tried kayaking before, and was therefore surprised that I enjoyed it so much! This is an excellent activity for the weekends, and its just 30-40 minutes away with train. Make sure to take advantage your stay in Buenos Aires!
